WTF Wednesday Two Days Early

Quite frankly, I don't know whether to laugh or cry. So maybe someone in the blogosphere can explain this to me.

Here we have a Prada "Ruched Frame Bag." Neiman Marcus is selling this little item for $1,555.00 (and please, only three bags per customer due to the high demand). However, if you desperately want this bag you can just click on over to Bag, Borrow Or Steal and rent this puppy for $95.00 per week OR $275.00 for an entire month.

Could someone please explain to me who in the world RENTS handbags? Who would be so desperate to have a "couture bag" that they would go and rent it and pass it off as theirs? "Oh honey, did you remember to pay the purse rental this month?" Am I the only one that thinks this is a very sad, albeit small, commentary on the state of the world today? Or am I simply living on a different planet?

Praaaaaaadaaaaaaa!!! (you'll just have to picture me shaking and trying to figure out a way to roll thousands of dollars worth of quarters)

The cost is just crazy. And if I can't justify it as a knitting bag then it's not going to come and live with me. I can be practical if I have to. I'll just never be one of the Beautiful People...and I think that renting bag space would probably not qualify me for that anyway!

Some people's priorities are a bit mucked up. Think of all of the yarn one could buy with that 15 hundred: esp with an employee discount!

Can we just blame Paris and move on?

I don't want people in my bag. Never mind wanting to share a bag with someone else and their germs.

    Yeah, I have issues. So?

Ok, first of all, WTF are YOU doing looking at such things? Do you know, I had to actually check the name of the blog TWICE to make sure I was on the right one. Weaving Inn. You. That's April. But WTF is this about a Prada bag?
And it all sounds like a scam to me. That bag is probably one of those Chinatown knock offs. Who's the sucker???

I saw this website about the time "The Devil Wears Prada" first came out and thought I'd die. I didn't get the web site - I didn't get the need to wear all those la-de-da clothes. Give me basic boring clothes and some really nice yarn!

    People can rent purses?!?

That is just too bizarre. When I get that rich, I'll spend my money on more important things. I hope.

That is so unbelievable, what is wrong with people? Even if I did have that kind of money I wouldn't use it for that! Sheesh, donate enough money to have your name on a building or something..

    Wow.

    That's horrific.

It looks like some kind of horrible accident involving a shar-pei in a B&D bar.

Can we call the cost a stupid tax?
And maybe the rental is temporary insanity?

Here in Vermont, we are contemplating renting a boar to breed our sow. Better value than that bag, IMO.

I am behind on posts. Glad to see you are giving Victor a chance. Hope it goes well.

If I saw this particular bag at a thrift store I would pass it by thinking that it looked like something Lily Munster would carry. Does this mean that I'm an uncultured swine? In my opinion people who spend this kind of money on clothing and accessories really need to spend some time in a homeless shelter or some other place where they could see what a frivolous waste of money this kind of thing is. Just think of how many horses, cats, etc. could benifit. Sorry about the rant. I'm off to take my garage sale attired self to the kitchen for some coffee.

Thanks for snorting; reading that you snorted made me snort.

And then I came over to your blog and read that I could rent that rather marvellous handbag and I snorted again!

Now I have to wipe my laptop off. Heck.

I think Bobbi has got it in one ... the 'beautiful people' will consider that bag SOOOOOOO out in a month or two so if they can't schmooze some designer to give them a loaner why not rent one? [ being sarcastic here in case you can't tell ]
I'm still having trouble with the thousands of dollars worth of freebies that all those celebs get showered with
